AOF "Mark Mahon" story

 

By his own admission, Mark Mahon is truly one of the first Action On Film success stories. After entering a script in the very first AOF competition in 2005 he was shocked to find that he had been nominated for one of the script awards. Mahon flew in from Great Brittan to attend the show. Mark introduced himself to festival director Del Weston and told him his story of how he was actually a land developer but he’d always desired to make entertainment his true profession. Well, Mahon won the award that night and to say the least, the rest is history. Check out his photos with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood and his story in Hollywood Scriptwriter Magazine where we discover that with an AOF Award under his belt, Mahon was able to open not just one but two production companies and he is now working on his first major motion picture. UPDATE: 2007

Dear AOF,
Firstly, I just want to wish all the entrants the best of luck in this
year's competition. You might not realize it now, but by doing so; you have
already traveled along way on your road to success.
We are commencing principal photography of 'Strength and Honor' the second
week of September. It tells the story of a young Irish boxer who
accidentally kills his friend in the ring. Following this, he promises his
wife that he will never box again. However, when he discovers his only son
is dying of the same heredity heart disorder, which has killed his wife, he
is forced to break his promise.
We are still negotiating with a big 'Hollywood' name to play the lead role
of Sean Kelleher, but this is nearly concluded. MICHAEL MADSEN has signed
to play the antagonist 'Smasher O'Driscoll' and a blast from the past, RICHARD
CHAMBERLAIN, is confirmed to play Denis O'Leary, the protagonist's coach.
Again, I would like to thank Action On Film for giving me the 'STRENGTH' I
needed to believe in myself, 'AND' I will always 'HONOR' you for this.
